Bass River winery continues to impressive with single vineyard wines from the Gippsland region, this Pinot Noir has seen plenty of time on skin and lees with minimal handling and filtration, the result is a wine that gives generosity of fruit, but a commanding savoury structure and textural mouthfeel.
The wine is medium red hue with a youthful purple tinge, the nose is gives depth of dark cherry but also shows extended lees contact with some savoury earthy influences.
The wine has ample red cherry fruits, but maintains an earthy core with subtle oak induced spices providing additional texture. The tannins have a minerality to them and frame the cherry dominant finish.
Only 150 cases made so it won't be around for long, and will certainly cellar.
