Tasting
I can fondly remember the 2002 Giaconda Pinot Noir being one of my first great Pinot experiences, the wine was produced from Beechworth fruit and had power and elegance i had yet to see in the bewitching variety. The youthfulness of the 2013 release is yet to reach that lofty height, but has the composition and pedigree to get there with time.
The other emerging parralel is the consistency of style between the two burgundian staples of Giaconda (Pinot Noir & Chardonnay) with quality oak and well handled acidity being the signature of both wines.
The wine is a bright red hue in the glass, the nose gives seductive primary fruits with red cherry and strawberry combining with floral spice. On the palate there are fleshy red fruits supported by generous vanillin oak, the tannins are plush and integrate, continuing to build as the wine expresses it's textural core. The finish has managed acidity that sets focus on the pure fruits and generous oak which will continue to evolve their combined expression in years to come.
NOTE: This wine will be released in April 2015, as such the above note may not be a true reflection of the wine on release with a few more months of bottle ageing.
