2013 Mt Lofty Ranges Old Pump Shed Noir

Adelaide Hills Pinot Noir is generally a very different proposition when compared to a number of other Pinot producing regions in Australia. The wines are typically a firmer expression of the much lauded variety, having both structure and dark fruits in spades.

The 2013 Old Pump Shed is a medium red hue in the glass and has a nosed packed full of character, in terms of the fruit it sits more in the dark fruit spectrum, backed by brown spices and a touch of liquorice all sorts.

The palate shows a wine that is not short on tannin, texture and concentration. Dark plum and cherry sit amongst drying tannins and coarse grained spice.

This wine certainly needs time to unravel, to loose its primary influence and show what else is hidden in it's stoic frame.
