Pinot Noir from Ballarat when made well presents a dark fruited yet famine example of the variety with the region capable of producing wines with complex, aromatic and elegant noses that are backed by considerable fruit weight; a heady combination. The 13' Rebellion treads this tightrope.

The wine as expected is a glossy medium red in the glass, the nose has lifted floral notes with red cherry and sweet spice.

The palate starts with expansive dark cherry and raspberry that initially broad gets pegged back by spicy oak inputs, taut tannins and drying sappy notes. The wine has good purity of fruit to finish that drives considerable length.

It's certainly a big wine, but has it's components in proportion.
