This comes from the same vineyard from which the Pinot Noir is sourced for the 1000 Candles wine, one of the most exciting labels coming out of the Yarra Valley.
This wine, as is the case with 1000 candles is expertly crafted by William Downie, it's no surprise that given the pedigree of site and winemaker this is a very good wine, even better it is available for less that $30.
A youthful red with some purples hues towards the rim, the nose has classical dark cherry and rhubarb notes with spicy high notes and a little bit of funk, or more to the point some blue cheese (first time i've described that in Pinot)
This wine has a presence on the palate, concentrated cherry with some cola notes are in there element amongst tightly grained tannins, generous baking spice and bright acidity that demands some time in the cellar.
