The Airlie Bank range not only represents exceptional value for money, it is also a set of wines that let Tim Shand and team experiment with their winemaking style, pushing traditional boundaries to great effect.
The 2014 Pinot saw some whole bunch (12%) and was fermented in tank, a small proportion was pressed into oak, with the remainder matured in tank. The use of some oak and touch of whole bunch gives structure and the slightest savoury touch to what is a vibrant and juicy expression of red cherry fruit, texturally the lack of oak gives a richness and velvety character to the wine, a dusting of spice and smokiness adds complexity to finish.
Wood fired pizza and this wine won't last long.
