Sourced from Tumbarumba, Australia's newest darling for cool climate wines. The artist shows some clever work in the winery taking quality fruit and producing a structural and savoury wine with plenty of whole bunch input yet maintaining attractive varietal fruit.
A light red in the glass there is a stemmy, smokey aspect to the nose that works in well with dark cherry and touch of oak spice. The palate is medium bodied with a drying backbone of fine tannin and sweeter stem notes. The finish is drying with earthen cherry and wood smoke.
Stylistically this is a wine for those who like their Pinot on the whole bunch, savoury side.
