There is some pretty impressive winemaking that went into this wine, a portion whole bunch, plenty of time on skins, some carbonic maceration going on and 30% new oak before the wine was bottled without fining.
The colour is something to behold, a decidedly light red that is only a shade or two from a Rose, but don't let that fool you into a false sense of security. As is the case with many a good Pinot, colour extraction, or a lack of is no issue.
The nose is a stemmy mix of red cherry, wood smoke and touches of charcuterie, the palate is well proportioned and builds in complexity across the journey with expressive red cherry met with undergrowth before generous yet spicy french oak provides mouthfeel and a transition towards the sweetly spice and undergrowth laden finish.
