Botanica Estate is a new comer to Macedon Ranges, with their inaugural releases set to impress. There are two vineyard blocks on the property, the Tullus Block which was planted in 2004, and the Wagyu Hill that was planted in 2014.
A light red in the glass that is true to the variety and region. The nose enjoys red cherry with background notes of rhubarb, earth and baking spice.
The palate has a softness of red berry fruits initially, with an enjoyable backbone of drying tannin and understated savoury notes that provides beautiful contrast with the more supple starting point of the wine. The savoury nuance is short lived with a lithe line of acidity and generosity of spice that provides another layer of texture. The finish is long and lingers with dark cherry.
