A light to medium red hue in the glass, 2015 has been heralded as a great vintage and this ranks as one of the best Pinot Noir's that i have had from the Macedon Ranges. It has fullness and presence, yet retains femininity and beguiling complexity that comes from world class Pinot Noir. The nose is a heady mix of dark cherry, stem and rhubarb with quality french oak giving sandalwood like spice notes.
There is generosity of dark cherry on entry with fine and layered tannins that are given a rosemary and sage like complexity before rhubarb and earthen plum give further dimension. The fuller notes are quickly contrasted by drying baking spices that lead to a long, complex and satisfying finish.
Give this a decade in the cellar, and it will be something quite special.
