Produced from vines planted in 1984, and from the coolest part of the Red Hill hinterland in the Mornington Peninsula. Whole berries from 7 different Pinot Noir clones were given a 5 day cold soak prior to fermentation with the wine then aged in French oak for 16 months.
A pretty light red in the glass, the nose showcases the complex and beguiling variety that is Pinot Noir. It's light on its feet and sweetly aromatic with wood spice and earth, but at the same time has a commanding structure of dark cherry with taut acidity and drying tannin. Rhubarb and cranberry give depth to the palate with a supportive layer of oak completing the wine. Give this wine time and watch it flourish.
