This wine is produced by the Farr family, the name synonymous for By Farr and Farr Rising labels. The fruit comes from the western districts of Victoria, 150 km from Melbourne. The vineyard was planted in 2001 and comprises 6 acres of Pinot Noir and 2 acres of Chardonnay with Irrewarra the aboriginal word for long spear throw.

A medium red hue in the glass, the nose sits in the dark cherry and rhubarb spectrum of Pinot Noir with expansive fruit, undergrowth and top notes of spice completing the show.

The palate has a core of drying acidity and tannin with a structure that is reminiscent of the wines of Gevrey Chambertin stylistically, dark cherry fruit is the star with an earthen coffee note that is lifted by oak derived spice and suggestion of blood orange.

The finish is a drying, concentrated and moreish with this wine having a long life ahead in the cellar.
