Produced from the close planted Maple Ridge Vineyard near Hahndorf the wine was fermented with a large portion of whole bunch using wild yeasts before aging in French oak, (10% new).
A light to medium red hue in the glass with a nose of dark cherry with whispes of spice and undergrowth.
A juicy, taut baseline of tannin and acidity set this wine up for the long term. Fruit is on the savory side of the spectrum with tightly coiled red and dark cherry at this point, fresh earth and understated oak give contrast. The finish has drying length of cherry and rhubarb.
