Produced from a mature block on the close planted Maple Ridge Vineyard near Hahndorf. The wine was fermented using wild yeast in small batches with the inclusion of whole bunches before ageing in French Oak.
An incredibly light red in the glass with beautiful clarity, the nose gives sappy cherry fruit with earth, stem and touch of shoe polish.
A layered and complex palate with a baseline of fresh earth, brown spice and rosemary. The fruit has a juicy, almost crunchy note that drives length and interest. Tannin and acid are taut and fit the wines style in terms of it's racy, youthful exuberance. Don't be fooled it will age too.
