The freshly minted 2016 release comes complete with a new label, a classic almost retro spin on the Giant Steps label that looks great.
The majority of the fruit for the wine came from the Tarraford Vineyard with lesser amounts from Applejack, Primavera and Sexton Vineyards in decreasing proportions. The wine was wild yeast fermented with minimal fining and filtration and saw a portion of new and old French Oak.
A light red in the glass, the nose gives dark cherry that's supported by baked rhubarb, a touch of bramble and gentle oak spice.
The wine sits more towards the savoury spectrum with a taut line of acidity, fine but firm tannins and earthen cherry fruit, the finish is drying with a heady mix of dark cherry and plum.
A masculine wine that has the framework to reward time in the cellar.
