A vibrant light red in the glass with a stemmy, dark cherry and charcuterie dominant nose with a distinctive smokiness.
The stalky, smoky and herbaceous characters are the stars of the palate and if anything are more dominant than the red cherry and rhubarb notes. Tannins are firm, but quite fine and underwrite some further development. This was real surprise for the price and has lots of interest, especially for those who like a masculine style Pinot that still has varietal definition. The finish is a little overdone in terms of acid and tannin if you were to be really harsh, but it is in alignment with the style.
