What a great name for a wine, one one that makes sense when you consider the marginal climate that the grapes for this wine grow. Perched 770m above sea level there is great care that needs to be taken in the vineyard, but the results provided by the ultra cool climate grapes are worth it.

The label describes the intent to produce wines in the style of Burgundy, and to my mind this release most closely resembles Vosne Romanee with a prettiness of fruit and texture, yet the tannin profile to support future development.

The wine itself is a vibrant red in the glass with aromatic new French oak making its mark on the nose when paired with red cherry, spice and earthen undertones.

The wine is medium bodied and an intricate assemblage of red and dark cherry that weaves in spice and stem. Acidity gives a lightness and tannins structure without intrusion.

Impressive release.
