This wine is produced by Sidewood Estate and is certainly a departure in brand from their Estate or Reserve wines. The labels have a mythical cartoonish character that make them stand out in a crowd, even more pleasing the wine in the bottle is great value.
A light red in the glass, the nose of rhubarb and cherry has an ever so slight earthen thread. The palate is characterised by savoury dark cherry with firm and drying tannins that give an even more brambly character to the wine, there is just enough sweeter spice and wild strawberry fruit to give contrast on the finish.
This is a wine that will reward some short term cellaring to unravel some of it's softer side.
