Sidewood are a very clever producer who are not afraid to experiment. There is a lot to like about this wine produced exclusively from the 777 clone of Pinot Noir that is as much about the clone as winemaking technique.
An incredibly light red in the glass, a couple of shades lighter and it's rose territory; Don't be fooled into thinking it's a wine without substance, this is dripping with interest.
The nose enjoys the stem and bracken influence that comes from whole bunch which is shrouded in cherry and earth. The palate has floral tones, but is is more in touch with it's savoury side. Delicate and layered red berry fruits enjoy a weave of spice and a suppleness of tannin that is balanced out by structure building acidity. The finish is light on it's feet initially, but unravels it's nuances over time as any good Pinot Noir should.
