A light red in the glass with a nose that is initially savoury and bordering on austere with rhubarb and dark cherry along with some faint spice tones that give a window into the future.
The wine has a taut backbone in terms of both tannin and acid with a continuation of the dark cherry and rhubarb notes from the nose. There is a twist of dry spice and feigned richness that makes you want to sit the wine in a decanter for a few hours. The length is excellent length to finish.
This is a very good wine, however it needs another 12 months to fill out which was highlighted by when tasting the open bottle after three days with the wine positively singing when tasting again.
