As always this is a complex and complete wine at a price that consistently makes it one of the best value for money releases from the Adelaide Hills.
It starts with the winemaking technique that sees whole bunches and whole berry fermented using wild yeast and extended maceration before ageing in French Oak.
There is a pretty light to medium red colour in the glass with aromatics of strawberry, lifted spice and background rhubarb influence. The impact of whole bunches gives a savoury and textural backbone to the wine that when combined with finely tuned acidity provides drive and freshness. In terms of fruit it is all about wild strawberry and red cherry, with oak giving a veneer of richness. The finish has a crunch to red berry fruits and a lick of earth and spice.
Set up for the medium term, another great Sidewood Pinot Noir release.
