The grapes were sourced from the Woodside vineyard that is planted to a number of clones and is pesticide and herbicide free. The wine was made with 30% whole bunches included in the ferment before ageing in new (15%) and older oak for eight months.
The nose gives a candied apple like aromatic alongside red cherry and bright spices. The palate is defined by its juicy, generous and supple primary fruits that range from red cherry to ripe strawberry; tannins are soft and the use of some whole bunches give a lick of savoury contrast. The finish shows tighter red fruits and a driving line of acidity with a cranberry and earth like complexity to finish that will underwrite some good cellaring potential.
