The Old Rowley pays homage to Rowland Hill, a pioneer of agriculture in the Kangaroo Island region. The wine itself is a Shiraz, Grenache and Viognier blend, and is bigger than those found in winemaker Jacques Lurton native Cote du Rhone in France, with rich fruit and expressive vanillin oak the main differentiators.
In terms of colour the wine is already starting to show a slightly developed red in the glass, the palate has plenty of peppery blackberry fruit that is backed by spicy vanillin oak. The tannins of this wine are ripe and supportive, with enough acidity to complement the pepper, spice and oak on the finish.
This wine will reward medium terms cellaring and carries it's 15% alcohol effortlessly.
