It took me a while to get to the Swan Valley, and on a recent trip even with a condensed schedule i wasn't going to miss out on a winery that has what looks like a cartoon character as the mascot !
The Reserve Shiraz has a deep red hue in the glass with an attractive and rich nose that shows plenty of spicy oak and vanillin characters with ample plum and blackberry fruit to contrast.
New oak is certainly evident on the palate, with coconut / vanilla taking centre stage with some peppery plum and blackcurrant complexity giving balance. The finish as expected has dark chocolate and sweet oak alongside spiced dark fruits.
This wine won't be for everyone, but if your looking for extravagant oak with some interest this wine is for you!
