Clyde Park has steadily built it's reputation as one of Geelong's premier producers of cool climate wines, the locale range represents the entry level, but in my experience they are wine to be taken seriously.
The nose is savoury, smokey and has characteristics akin to whole punch pinot with dark cherry, the difference being there is more dark plum supporting. The palate is generous and supple, but has peppery spice that works well with blackberry and plum, the finish gives kirsch, and smokey drying dark cherry.
This wine could be double the price.
