This wine pays homage to Richie Condie's father Max and is the Reserve release for the Heathcote producer. The wine itself sees 24 months of both new and seasoned french oak.
The wine is a medium red in colour with duller hues towards the rim, the nose has lashings of vanillin oak with some coconut undertones to the dark cherry and plum fruits.
The palate has concentration written all over it with dense plum and blackberry juxtaposed against dominant oak and tannin of equal measure.
The wine finishes with dark cherry and lingering vanillin oak and spice. It will be interesting to see how this wine ages as it softens and becomes more secondary, at almost 4 years post vintage it is still a baby.
