If you haven't tried the finely crafted set of wines produced by Alex Head then your missing out, his wines continue to grow in stature from year to year, the initial two flagships in his range are the brunette' and the blonde' paying homage to the wines of the Cote Rotie in Northern Rhone.

The 2010 Brunette is an elegant, fruit driven wine from the acclaimed 2010 vintage, there is a purity of floral plum and violets on the nose with more developed cured meat and sage characters just starting to become evident. The palate is tightly bound, the tannins are fine, yet have a firmness that complements the dense plum fruit that is given a savoury edge. The finish is drying and gaining secondary complexity, but still holding it's cards close to it's chest.

This wine will continue to grow and gain complexity over the next 15 - 20 years, I can't wait to see where it goes.
