Tasting
The St Peters Vineyard has been considered the pinnacle of Grampians Vineyards along with Mt Langi for a number of years, sitting in front of the Historic Seppelts winery you can't help but get a sense of excitement when walking this vineyard, with the wines crafted from the old vines having such structure and character and a propensity for long term cellaring.

The wine was first released as Hermitage in 1964, with the St Peter's label rebranded in 1998. The wine has a glossy deep red in colour, the nose has depth of plum with more savoury cured meat and leather, supported by a sheath of toasty vanillin oak. The palate shows briar dark fruits with a plushness that is kept in check by framing tannins. The mid to back palate gives some baking spice that adds to the wines complexity, the finish is impossibly long and drying. This wine will be a true classic over the next 20+ years.
