Tasting
The Elderton Estate vineyards are made up of 12 blocks of Shiraz, with vines up to 100 years old, the resultant quality of the Estate Shiraz is typically exceptional.
The 2012 is a little different to what i would expect from the Estate Shiraz, the nose is muted with background plum and cherry hard to find. The palate has soft and supple fruit on entry with some dark chocolate richness, but is a little on dimensional at this time in it's development.
It's hard to know if the wine is going through a phase' but it doesn't line up with the usual impeccable quality of the Estate release.
