Tasting
The Mea Culpa is sourced from the Tarraford vineyard in the Yarra Valley, the wine saw 85% whole bunch, natural malolactic fermentation and no filtration prior to bottling. The resultant wine is one of the best Yarra Valley Shiraz's i have enjoyed in recent years.
A deep red in the glass, the nose is a complex combination of plum, sage, vanillin oak and background liquorice notes. The palate showcases exceptional fruit with textural and savoury plum playing well against ripe tannins, the oak is generous and soaked up by dark fruits.
To finish, sweet spices and a touch of white pepper are the perfect counterpoint to rippling dark fruits and plush oak. Drinking very well now, and over the next decade.
