Lou Miranda have access to a number of old vineyard sites in the Barossa with their old vine Shiraz coming from a single Estate block that was planted in 1907, as always it is a pleasure to taste wines from vineyards that helped frame Australia's vinous history.
A dense red in the glass, this is classic Barossa Shiraz with a nose of dark plum that is given a savoury leathery aspect and a suggestion of milk chocolate. The palate is balanced and showcasing quality oak that gives a spicy aspect to the concentrated red berry fruits. Tannins are gently woven throughout, but are in proportion to the concentrated fruit and vanillin oak inputs. The finish is long and lingers with dark fruits and savoury spice. This wine will last for many years.
