The wine was released as a cellar release, and it was a wonderful opportunity to see top class Canberra District Shiraz with some age, and it did not disappoint.
There is the characteristic freshness and savoury edge to dark berry fruits that you would expect however time has given layers of complexity and interest. The nose has pepper, earth and faint mint that mingles with plum and blackberry fruit. The palate has retained its acidity and drive and will underwrite another decade in the cellar. Tannins are fine and take on both earth and gentle spice with plum and dark cherry fruit wrapped in pepper and understated dry herbs. The finish combines savoury aspect and generous fruit.
A beautiful aged wine.
