Huntington Estate are royalty when it comes the Mudgee region, their wines are great value across all price points, with the Reserve Shiraz a bargain at $36; especially given it's held back for 4 years prior to release.
The wine comes in at 14.7% alcohol, but carries it well with concentration of plum and blackberry fruit supported by cedar and vanillin spice. Tannins are rounded and fine and frame the palate, there is a gentle earth and rhubarb thread that adds a layer of complexity with driving plum enjoying an old leather aspect that holds your attention on the mid palate before a generous dusting of spice melds with dark berry fruits to finish.
