John Duval is best known as the former custodian of Grange, since leaving Penfolds he has been crafting balanced and elegant expressions of Barossa Shiraz; rich and ripe, but above all elegant.
The wine has decidedly youthful red to purple hues , the nose gives floral plum, baking spice and a touch of licorice. With time in the glass the nose develops enjoyable meaty nuances.
A juicy palate with raspberry and plum fruit that is fitted with a sheath of supportive oak that gives both richness and a touch of chocolate. Tannins are definitely there but meld well with the fruit, great length to finish with all components in harmony.
