It's always special to taste wines that are sourced from vines that were planted over 100 years ago. They are some of the unique vinous treasures that set the Barossa Valley apart from other regions around the world.
The nose is unabashed in its primary fruit with a decadence of charred, caramel like American oak, but it works beautifully with the saturation of blackberry, plum and black cherry.
An impressive wine that holds your interest from start to finish. Deeply satisfying dark berry fruits are joined in concert by decedent spice but also enjoy a slow build of savory flare with an earthy sappiness. There is a generosity of vanillin notes that that provide a textural interlude to brooding dark fruits to finish. The length is considerable.
