The Mt Ida Shiraz is sourced from a single vineyard in Heathcote, and is a benchmark example of the variety and region, in particular this wine uses oak to add layers and complexity rather than being the one characteristic that defines the wine, which is a challenge with some Heathcote wines.
The wine is a dark but youthful red in the glass, the nose gives lashings of spice and sage inspired spice alongside dark plum and generous oak.
The wine is in the full bodied spectrum, but by no means over the top. The fruit maintains a vibrancy which is the perfect counterpoint to the supple yet full tannins that fill out the mid palate, the finish highlights quality french oak and purity of dark plum fruit.
