A dense dark red in the glass with a characteristic nose of the region with blackberry, plum and graphite that has lightly spiced notes coming through.
The palate has gravelly, grainy tannins that show a density of dark berry fruits. There is an earthen thread that is decidedly savory. A dusting of new oak richness gives some contrast to the wines more brooding notes.
It was a good move holding this back a few years before release and it's just starting to hit its straps and in true WA Shiraz will reward time in bottle.
