Extended ageing in new French oak has provided a wine of impressive pedigree. Oak can only work when there is the fruit to carry it, which this wine has in spades.
In terms colour it is a youthful dark red to purple hue with a nose that has decadence of spice and floral tones to plum and raspberry fruit that has a vanillin streak.
The palate shows expansive dark berry fruits with tannins that are part fruit and part oak and give an almost saline edge before generosity of oak gives milk chocolate characters to driving dark berry fruits. A lovely expression of McLaren Vale if you are looking for a big and luscious example.
