The Dead Arm is unfined and unfiltered and only racked prior to bottling. It is then held back in bottle prior to release; the result is one of the most icnonic and age worthy wines this country produces.
The nose leads with plum and blackberry, but is wrapped in leather and earth with flashes of bitter dark chocolate in the background.
The lack of winemaker intervention is evident with a slow evolution that is only just beginning with the wines a savory, dark fruited core shining through with drying and leathery tannin that has just enough fruit richness and oak to give balance. There is a return of bitter dark chocolate to finish with a line of taut acidity and dark cherry fruit that drives significant length.
This has all the indicators to be a wine of epic proportions that will show itself in the decades to come.
