This is another consistent over performer from d'Arenberg, it's not quite as remarkable as the current release High Trellis Cabernet Sauvignon but good luck finding such an expressive, varietal Shiraz from McLaren Vale for under $20.
A deep but glossy red in the glass, attractive boysenberry and violets benefit from understated generosity of oak and fresh liquorice. A medium to full bodied wine with a core of fine tannin that's filamented with blackberry and blueberry fruit and held in suspension by crunchy acidity. Oak, earth, dark chocolate and plum fruit frame the finish with the wines tannin and acid structure giving good length and ensuring a medium term cellaring proposition.
