Sourced from the Peerick Vineyard the wine had partial wild yeast fermentation and included 25% whole bunches in the ferment, there was a small addition of Viognier and the wine aged in French oak for 15 months.
The addition of a small part of Viognier has added a floral aromatic on the nose that is intertwined with ripe blackberry and plum fruit with a dusting of white pepper. The palate shows a wine that is attractive and approachable now but has the foundation to age effortlessly. The fruits are dark and have an earthen nature that is accentuated by drying tight grain tannins that give breadth and structure to the mid palate. Blackberry, pepper and earth frame the deeply satisfying finish.
