The wine is produced from the 20 acre Nine Gums vineyard Willunga with original vineyard plantings starting in 1996. The wine sees a high proportion of new American oak (35%) and was aged in barrel for 24 months prior to bottling and extended ageing prior to release. It may not be how an accountant would want to run a winery, but it is a wonderful way to showcase a wine after it has spent some time in the bottle - which is especially true for McLaren Vale Shiraz.

A deep, dark red in the glass with blackberry and plum fruit shrouded in layers of savoury and spiced aromas; the wine caries its 14.9% alcohol well with a considered baseline of acidity and tannins that are firm but complimentary to peppery dark cherry and plum fruit that fill the mouth. There is impact of coffee and earthen tones to finish which gives dimension to drying dark cherry fruit and the impact of oak. A wine that will live for decades.
