Lost Buoy are certainly a point of difference that's coming out of McLaren Vale, with both their Grenache and Shiraz releases from 2016 taking the stereotypical characteristics of McLaren Vale and giving them a little bit of X factor, all at about $20.
The nose benefits from time in seasoned american oak with a fennel character that works in amongst dominant plum and understated cumin notes.
The palate is plush and gives attractive blueberry that gets caught in a drying but enjoyable web of tannin before darker fruits make themselves known. The finish enjoys a return of fennel with length of plum.
Drinking well now and will continue to evolve over the shorter term.
