The flagship release from the Watkins Family's Adelaide Hills Vineyard. The wine was aged in American Oak for 30 months prior to bottling and extended ageing prior to release.
The nose shows the vanillin, spiced influence of American Oak with peppery plum fruit more in the background. The palate shows a lovely interplay between sweet, spicy oak and generous mouth filling dark berry fruits. Tannins are soft but expansive with a velvety decadence. The wine does have a more structured and savoury aspect to finish, however it is the integrated oak impact on the wine that makes it.
This won't be a wine that everyone will enjoy, but those that enjoy a big, luxurious red will be well and truly in their element.
