The wine is fermented in small headed down fermentors before fermentation is finished new and older oak and the wine aged on lees before final blending and bottling without fining or filtration.
An inky dark red in the glass, the nose has a density of plum and black cherry fruit with dark cocoa and the faint influence of liquorice. The palate has the hallmark tannin structure of d'Arenberg with an earthen, sometimes ferrous thread. The wine even though 3 years old will live for decades and still shows plenty of primary dark berry fruits, the use of new oak plays no match to sheer concentration of fruit, but will be sure to show itself in the years to come. The length to finish is excellent, a wine to enjoy now with a steak and watch evolve over the coming 25 years.
