This is a big wine, especially in the context of the Clare. The nose is awash with creamy red and black fruits with plum and dark cherry the leading lights. Oak seems to be more in the style of American (no details provided) with some more overt caramel notes making themselves known.
The wine struggles to find balance with acid poking out, oak a touch raw and jarring at this point in its development and the rich fruit lost somewhere with all the other textural distractions. The wine sees some return to fruit to finish, with some pretty full throttle acidity. A wine that definitely needs some time to work itself out.
