Produced from Ancient vines that were planted at the beginning of the 20th century, no expense was spared in the winemaking process with 100% new French oak and extended time in bottle prior to release. The result is a wine that commands attention, it's bold and generous but has structure, complexity and intrigue in the same breath.
A deep red with youthful hues in colour, the nose has concentration of dark plum alongside liquorice with brown spice and earth.
The concentration of fruit and oak is quite profound, but balanced. Oak gives a cocoa vanillin thread that is pervasive across the wine, but dark fruits whose tannins are tightly bound give contrast; there is a salted liquorice note to finish with finely layered tannins. A wonderful wine that makes you appreciate the privilege of remarkable old vineyards in Australia.
