2018 1847 First Pick Shiraz

An impenetrable deep red to black with some purple around the rim of the glass; the nose gives wonderfully concentrated plum and blackberry fruit that is supported by olive and Christmas cake like spice. The palate is classical Barossa, it is big in every way but it has balance and poise; a sign of a great wine. The fruit is dense and tightly bound, with acidity to support the long term and tannins that give a briny savouriness that is the perfect counterpoint to the wines mouth filling fruit. The length is impressive, worthy of a flagship status.
