An inky dark red with some purple hues. A nose of dark cherry and plum with some faint pepper and charcuterie notes. The palate is broad and lacks direction, stewed fruit, sappy tannins and generally flat fruit. Spice plays a part to finish, and there is an earthen twist that is a redeeming feature.
