2018 Gundog Estate Rare Game Shiraz

A flagship Hunter Shiraz by any definition, there is generosity of fruit and oak to make it approachable now but also an underlying structure that will see it going strong 20 years from now. A medium to deep red in the glass, the nose carries a floral edge to plum fruit that has beautifully integrated oak spice and some subtle leather notes.

There is a sultry and saline note to moreish dark berry fruits with wonderfully balanced acidity on the palate. A savoury leathery aspect grows with time giving the wine a Rhône like bent. The length is significant and is a melange of the fruit, spice and savoury nuances.
